Apply online at IGR Odisha: sign in, choose Online Encumbrance Certificate, enter the property details and pay the fee through the Treasury payment gateway. The Sub-Registrar's office checks the application and issues the certificate with a digital signature.

What documents do I need?

The encumbrance certificate (EC), the Record of Rights (RoR or khatiyan) and the certified copy of the sale deed. Other deeds — a will, a gift deed, a partition deed — can be added as supporting documents.

Is this a legal opinion?
